Newt’s Playing Cards is launching its first annual Playing Card Design Contest for the 2008 Circleville Pumpkin Show. Artist of all ages are allowed to showcase their artwork for a chance to be included in this years “Pumpkin Show Art Deck.” The winning entry will receive $50 in cash plus $200 in prizes as well as the honor of having their artwork featured on the back of the 2008 “Pumpkin Show Art Deck” which will be available for sale December 12, 2008.

The contest is open to all ages or interested parties. Art submitted must be in “flat” format and can be no larger than 5” x 7”. In addition to the Grand Prize of $50 cash plus $200 in prize award for the back design, there will also be 4 second place winners that will be awarded a $50 gift card to Newt’s Playing Cards and their art will be used on the designated aces of the deck. There will also be 48 third place winners who along with their image being included in the art deck will each receive 1 deck of the “Pumpkin Show Art Deck” along with a poster size, uncut sheet of the deck.

Accepted entries will be on display at Newt’s Playing Cards during the 2008 Circleville Pumpkin Show from October 14-18. During this time patrons of the Circleville Pumpkin Show will be able to submit votes on which images or artwork they feel should be used in the 2008 “Pumpkin Show Art Deck.” Out of those votes Newt’s Playing Cards will find not only the Grand Prize winner, but the 4 second place winners and all of the entries that will be included in the art deck.

Within the deck of cards each artist will be listed next to their artwork along with school recognition.

CONTEST GUIDELINES:
Entries must be submitted in physical format and received before October 9, 2008. Winners will be notified by press release and on www.pumpkinshowplayingcards.com by October 24, 2008.
• The design must include a pumpkin or Pumpkin Show related art.
• Entries must be appropriate for all age groups or must be family friendly.
• Artwork can be no smaller than 4” x 6” and no larger than 5” x 7”. Sorry, no exceptions.
• Artwork may be any “flat” form of art including drawings, paintings, photographs, etc.
• Artwork must be original and not copied.
• Do NOT submit artwork that is framed or matted.
• Any winners under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to claim prize.
• Limit 1 entry per person.

PRIZES:
Grand Prize - Value $250.00, Includes 5 Decks of Cards and 1 poster size uncut Sheet (one)
Second Prize - $50.00 Newt’s Gift Card, plus 2 Decks of Cards and 1 poster size uncut Sheet (four)
Third Prizes - One (1) Deck of Cards and 1 poster size uncut Sheet - $12.00 Value (48)
All entries will receive a coupon good for $1 off the “Pumpkin Show Art Deck.”
Entries will be voted on by Pumpkin Show patrons. All decisions final.

BREAKDOWN OF ART DECK - The “Pumpkin Show Art Deck” will be broken down in to 4 age groups to go along with the 4 suits in a deck.
HEARTS - Preschool to 5th Grade
CLUBS - 6th - 8th Grade
DIAMONDS - 9th - 12th Grade
SPADES - Any adult out of K-12.
